A single post lift raises a vehicle from one column, so it takes less floor than a two-post or four-post lift, and many models roll out of the way when you need the bay back. My Garage Supplies carries 16 single post and mobile column lifts from AMGO, Atlas, iDEAL, Katool, Stratus and Tuxedo: car lifts rated 6,000 to 7,000 lb, two 2,000 lb lifts for mowers, ATVs and UTVs, and heavy-duty column sets that lift buses and fire trucks.
Which Single Post Lift Do You Need?
Portable service lifts. These pick the car up by its frame on swing arms, so the wheels hang free for tire, brake and suspension work, then roll on their own base into a corner. The Atlas PSP-6000 and iDEAL MSC-6KLP have drive-over ramps built into a low base and work under a 9-foot ceiling. The Katool KT-SPL700 runs on a standard 110V, 30-amp circuit and moves on casters with an integrated pump handle. The AMGO SML-7 is built to be moved by one person, and the Stratus SAE-S66M can be wired for 110V or 220V. Published lift heights run from 71 2/3 to 77 3/4 inches.
A fixed single post lift. The AMGO SL-7 is permanently installed, lifts 7,000 lb to 77 3/4 inches and starts 4 3/8 inches off the floor, for a bay where the lift stays put but floor space is short.
Single post parking lifts. Drive onto a platform, raise it on one column and park a second vehicle underneath. The AMGO SPL-7 lifts 7,000 lb, fits ceilings as low as 110 inches and runs on a 110V power unit. The Tuxedo SP-6K-SS lifts 6,000 lb with 77 3/16 inches of clearance under the runway, and installs to lift from the right or left side.
Small vehicles and heavy trucks. Two single-column lifts carry 2,000 lb on a platform: the Tuxedo SC-2K for lawn tractors and ATVs, and the iDEAL SC-2K-UTV-X, whose adjustable platforms take ATVs, UTVs, golf carts and zero-turn mowers. At the other end, iDEAL's battery-powered mobile column sets lift by the wheels in sets of two, four or six columns: the MSC-13K-B up to 78,000 lb and the ALI-certified MSC-18K-X up to 108,000 lb, for school buses, fire trucks and other large commercial vehicles.
What a Single Post Lift Costs
Warehouse-pickup prices in this collection: car service lifts $3,280 to $7,651; single post parking lifts $4,500 and $6,999; 2,000 lb small-vehicle lifts $2,349 and $4,260; heavy-duty column sets $16,760 for two columns up to $64,330 for six. Delivery options and their prices are on each listing. Our car lift cost guide puts these prices next to two-post, four-post and scissor lifts.
Single Post or Two-Post Lift?
The car models here are rated 6,000 to 7,000 lb, which covers most cars, SUVs and light trucks; heavier trucks belong on a two-post lift or one of the column sets. Choose a single post when floor space is the constraint or the bay has to do double duty: with one column there is open access around the car, and the portable models leave a clear floor when they are rolled away. If the goal is storage with a car parked underneath, compare the single post parking lifts above with the four-post lifts. Our home garage lift guide walks through the choice by scenario.
What to Check Before You Buy
- Vehicle weight and lift points. Compare your heaviest vehicle with the rating. For trucks and vans, check the included adapters: the Katool KT-SPL700 ships with eight stackable truck adapters and the Stratus SAE-S66M with four.
- Ceiling height. The portable Atlas and iDEAL models work under 9 feet. For a parking lift, the roof of the raised vehicle sets the height you need. Our ceiling height guide shows how to measure.
- Power. Several models run on standard 110V or 115V circuits; check the breaker size on the listing. The heavy-duty column sets run on 24V DC batteries with an onboard charger; check each listing for whether batteries are included.
- Floor. Portable lifts roll on level concrete; fixed and parking lifts follow the slab and anchoring requirements in their manuals; the iDEAL MSC-13K-B column sets call for a concrete surface of at least 3,000 PSI.
- Delivery. These lifts ship by freight: the Katool KT-SPL700 weighs about 1,900 lb and the Tuxedo SP-6K-SS ships at 2,610 lb. Plan for a forklift, a loading dock or liftgate delivery, and check the shipping weight on the listing.
Single Post Lift FAQ
Can a single post lift hold a car for storage? The parking models are built for it: the AMGO SPL-7 and Tuxedo SP-6K-SS hold one vehicle on a platform while a second parks underneath. The portable lifts raise a car for service and then roll out of the way.
Do single post lifts need to be bolted down? It depends on the model. The AMGO SL-7 is permanently installed. The Atlas PSP-6000, AMGO SML-7, iDEAL MSC-6KLP, Katool KT-SPL700 and Stratus SAE-S66M stand on their own wheeled base and roll into position.
How do portable single post lifts lock? Mechanically, at height. The Katool KT-SPL700's automatic safety lock engages at every lift position, the iDEAL MSC-6KLP has 21 locking positions, the Stratus SAE-S66M holds the carriage on a mechanical lock, and the Atlas PSP-6000 adds a chain break mechanism that locks the carriage if a chain fails. Use them on level concrete and follow the manual's capacity and lift-point instructions.
Is a single post lift good for a small garage? Yes, if the ceiling and floor check out. The portable Atlas and iDEAL models work under a 9-foot ceiling and roll into a corner, and the parking models add a second parking space from one column.
