Auxx-Lift Motorized Overhead Garage Storage Lift, Assembled in USA

The Auxx-Lift motorized garage storage lift turns the empty space above your garage into storage you can actually use. Hold a button on the remote and the platform lowers to the floor, so you load it standing up. Then it carries the load back to the ceiling. You don't climb a ladder to reach your storage or carry heavy totes overhead.

Two tubular motors mount to steel strut channels on your ceiling and, run by one controller, raise and lower the platform on four vinyl-coated 7×19 steel aircraft cables. Choose a 400, 600 or 800 lb lifting capacity, a platform from 3×6 to 4×8 ft (4×4 ft for the 800 lb model), and a finish to match your garage. The lift runs on a standard 120V household outlet.

Auxx-Lift has built motorized garage and attic storage lifts since 2012 and reports more than 20,000 lifts sold. Every Auxx-Lift platform model is assembled in Moorpark, California. The lift is patented (US Patent 9,572,427) and carries a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

You configure the Auxx-Lift with three choices. Match them to what you plan to store and to the space on your ceiling.

Lifting capacity

• 400 lb (Auxx-Lift 1400): 1/8" cables rated at 2,000 lb breaking strength each, and 235 W motors. Platforms 3×6, 3×8, 4×6 or 4×8 ft.
• 600 lb (Auxx-Lift 1600): 3/16" cables rated at 4,200 lb breaking strength each, and 680 W motors. Platforms 3×6, 3×8, 4×6 or 4×8 ft.
• 800 lb (Auxx-Lift 1800): 1/4" cables rated at 7,000 lb breaking strength each, and 680 W motors. 4×4 ft platform.

Platform size

The 400 lb and 600 lb models come in 3×6, 3×8, 4×6 and 4×8 ft platforms, and the 800 lb model uses a 4×4 ft platform. The 4×8 platform gives you 32 sq ft of overhead storage area.

Finish

There are four finishes: Silver Gray, Pearl White, Stainless Steel and Onyx Black. Silver Gray and Pearl White come in every 3×6, 3×8, 4×6 and 4×8 platform. Stainless Steel and Onyx Black are 4×8 options. The 800 lb 4×4 platform comes in Silver Gray.

Wireless remote with three built-in safeguards

The included wireless remote (433.92 MHz) raises and lowers the platform while you stand clear of it.

• Programmable high and low stop points. You set where the platform stops, so your items stop short of the ceiling and the floor.
• Auto-stop. The lift stops on its own if the remote loses connection or its battery runs out.
• Hold-to-run operation. The platform moves only while you hold the button down, and it stops as soon as you let go.

Self-leveling under uneven loads

Differential motor technology keeps the platform nearly level even when the heavier items sit on one side. The controller also monitors the weight on the platform and can block lifting or lowering.

Tested to UL standards

Auxx-Lift states that it is the only lift of its kind tested to the highest UL-standard requirements, with a minimum 4× factor of safety on all components.

Steel C-channel platform with a galvanized mesh deck

The platform frame is 15-gauge steel C-channel, 2.5 in thick. The deck is 4-gauge hot-dip galvanized welded wire mesh with a 3 in × 3 in grid, and the panels clip to each other and to the interior beams. A safety lip around the edge keeps items from falling off. Spring-loaded stoppers under the corners protect your floor when the platform comes down.

Galvanized aircraft cable

Each of the four lifting cables is galvanized 7×19 steel: 7 strands of 19 wires, 133 wires in total. A vinyl coating protects your hands and seals in lubrication.

Clean installation

The wiring from the controller to the motors runs inside the strut channels behind snap-in covers, and the power cord is white to blend in with most ceilings. All plastic parts are PVC-free ABS.

Installing the Auxx-Lift is a lot like installing an automatic garage-door opener. You locate the ceiling joists, bolt two steel strut channels across them, then mount the motors and controller and hang the platform from the cables. Because you work overhead, the installation guide recommends a helper and a stable ladder, and it says not to use an impact driver on the lag screws. If you are not comfortable doing the work, a handyman or contractor can install it.

Before you order, check these points:

• Ceiling structure. The guide calls for joists of at least 2×6 and recommends checking your ceiling with a structural engineer. Concrete ceilings need anchors.
• Mounting area. The frame takes roughly 5 × 5 ft of ceiling. The two strut channels sit 59 in apart (center to center) and must span at least three joists or rafters, and the manufacturer recommends four. You can extend the struts to reach a fourth or fifth joist, and you can work around ducts and light fixtures.
• Joist direction. The included hardware covers joists that run perpendicular to the strut channels. If your joists run parallel to them, you need an additional hardware kit with extra strut channels.
• Sloped ceilings. The standard 60 in strut channels work on ceilings sloped up to 25°. Steeper ceilings need longer strut channels.
• Clearance. Leave room to load the platform from its sides, and keep the area clear of windows, doors and garage-door tracks. A corner location limits loading to two sides. If you install more than one lift, keep at least 4 in between them.
• Power. You need a standard 120V outlet within reach of the 10 ft power cord. The warranty does not cover use of extension cords.

The motors arrive pre-adjusted. After mounting, you use the included adjustment tool and the remote to set the ceiling and floor stop points. The adjustment manual puts this step at 30 to 60 minutes for an experienced installer. Auxx-Lift's installation video below shows the process.

Auxx-Lift covers the lift with a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship under personal, normal household use in line with the owner's manual. If a covered part fails, Auxx-Lift sends replacement parts or, at its option, replaces the product after the defective unit is returned. Replacements may be new or reconditioned. Warranty service requires proof of the date and place of purchase.

The warranty does not cover commercial use, improper installation, accidents, misuse or abuse, lack of maintenance, unauthorized repairs or modifications, attachments not supplied with the product, power outages, use of extension cords, fire, flood or acts of God. The customer pays shipping on warranty replacements, and coverage ends if the original purchaser sells or transfers the lift.

Can I install the Auxx-Lift myself?

Yes, if you are comfortable working overhead on a ladder and finding ceiling joists. Plan on a helper for the overhead steps. If you are unsure about any step, the manufacturer recommends a handyman or contractor, and a structural engineer if you have doubts about your ceiling.

What tools do I need?

A wrench set (13/32", 7/16" and 23/32"), a flathead screwdriver, a #1 Phillips screwdriver, Allen wrenches (3/16" and 3/32"), a level, a tape measure, a pencil, a drill with a 7/16" socket and 1/8", 3/16" and 9/32" bits, and a stud finder.

Will the platform reach the floor in my garage?

Auxx-Lift lists a maximum travel of 13 ft 6 in with the standard cable and 18 ft with the optional 18 ft extension cable. Measure from your floor to your ceiling before you order. Can I install more than one lift?

Yes. Auxx-Lifts can be installed side by side, and the installation guide calls for at least 4 in between them. Each lift comes with its own motors and controller.
