Meyer Products Home Plow 24000 Auto Angling 6'8" Snow Plow

The Meyer Home Plow 24000 is the Auto Angling model of the HomePlow by Meyer, the personal-use plow Meyer designed for homeowners who need to clear a long driveway without spending a lot of time doing it. Its 6'8" × 22" one-piece blade angles itself left or right when it meets the weight of snow on one side, and an electric lift with a wireless remote raises and lowers it from inside the vehicle.

The plow arrives pre-assembled, slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver hitch with Meyer's Quick-Link mounting system, and rolls on integrated caster wheels for mounting and storage. Meyer limits the HomePlow to driveway plowing on ½-ton and smaller SUVs, pickups and utility vehicles. The front receiver hitch mount is sold separately.

Meyer's 2023–2024 product guide lists four HomePlow models. The 24000 is the pre-assembled Auto Angling model. The Meyer Home Plow 23250 Basic uses the same electric lift with an 18" two-piece moldboard that ships for assembly. The 6'8" Meyer Home Plow 26000 and the 7'6" Meyer Home Plow 26500 are the Power Angling models, with full hydraulic lift and angle from a wired controller.

• Auto-Angling™. The blade angles toward the side carrying the heavier snow without powered help, then returns to straight when you raise it. A dual compression spring ram does the work.
• Fixed angle pin. Push the blade left or right by hand and drop in the fixed angle pin to hold that angle.
• Electric lift with wireless remote. Press up to raise and down to lower. A blue light shows the remote is sending, and the lift times out after 6 seconds of continuous up or down.
• Minimal wiring. The wireless receiver box plugs into the vehicle harness, and Meyer notes the wireless setup needs minimal under-hood wiring and no through-dash connection.
• Quick-Link mounting. The lift frame's tube slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver and pins in place.
• Integrated caster wheels. Three casters let you roll the plow up to the hitch and park it for storage. Raising the mounted plow turns the wheels to the plowing position.
• One-piece full-trip moldboard. 6'8" long and 22" tall in 14-gauge steel with six vertical ribs and two trip springs. Meyer lists a 72" average width at full angle.
• Replaceable steel cutting edge. A one-piece 3/16" × 5" edge. Meyer's manual says to replace it once it wears to 3-1/2" tall.
• Weather-covered connectors. Harness ends carry weather covers, and Meyer calls for dielectric grease on the connector prongs.
• Sno-Flo® powder coating in black and yellow, with Sno-Flo touch-up available in spray cans.

Meyer's vehicle requirements for the HomePlow:

• Two- or four-wheel-drive SUV, pickup or utility vehicle rated ½-ton or smaller. Meyer prohibits use on larger vehicles.
• Able to accept a Category 3, 2" × 2" front receiver hitch rated for 300 lb tongue weight and 3,000 lb pull.
• Minimum 60-amp alternator and minimum 70-amp battery with 550 cold cranking amps.
• Front suspension able to carry the added weight of the plow and hitch.
• Stock ride height, with no lift kit or other suspension modification.

Check two measurements once the receiver hitch is installed. The center of the receiver should sit 10" to 13" above the ground, and the hitch pin hole should be no more than 8-1/2" from the very end of the bumper. Meyer directs owners outside those ranges to their hitch maker for height or length adjustment accessories.

Meyer accessories for the 24000

Meyer lists these optional accessories, sold separately, for the 24000: steel (08278), rubber (08265) and polyurethane (08266) cutting edge kits, a poly snow deflector (08267), replacement pivot bar and lift frame casters (13300 and 13301), a storage cover (22768), a snow shoe kit (08271) and a Quick Link lock.

HomePlow models compared

Meyer's HomePlow warranty, effective July 1, 2022, covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase for the original purchaser. Individual parts, components and accessories carry their own one-year term. Expendable items such as cutting edges, pins, runners, springs, markers, chrome plating and paint are excluded, as is damage to the vehicle the plow is mounted on.

Coverage applies to the original purchaser and ends if the plow is sold or transferred. Meyer has confirmed to MGS that the HomePlow can be installed by the end user. Warranty service runs through authorized HomePlow and Meyer dealers, so keep your proof of purchase. The full warranty is linked under Documents.

How does Auto-Angling work?

When the blade meets heavier snow on one side, it angles toward that side on its own, with no powered help. When you raise the plow, it returns to the straight position. To hold a set angle, push the blade left or right and drop in the fixed angle pin.

Will the Meyer Home Plow 24000 fit my vehicle?

It is built for two- or four-wheel-drive SUVs, pickups and utility vehicles rated ½-ton or smaller, at stock height, that can take a Category 3, 2" front receiver hitch. Meyer's application guide lists the receiver mount for each listed vehicle, and the receiver center must land 10" to 13" off the ground.

Is the front receiver hitch included?

No. The 2" front receiver hitch mount is sold separately and is installed to the hitch maker's instructions before the plow goes on.

How much does the Meyer Home Plow 24000 weigh?

Meyer lists the 24000 at 241 lb complete. Meyer lists the 23250 Basic at 233 lb, the 26000 at 250 lb and the 7'6" 26500 at 279 lb.

What if the remote's light doesn't come on?

Meyer's manual says the remote's blue light should illuminate when either button is pressed. If it doesn't, the remote battery needs replacing.

Can I use it on a ¾-ton truck or for commercial plowing?

No. Meyer states the HomePlow is for driveway plowing only and prohibits use on vehicles larger than ½-ton.

How fast can I drive with the plow mounted?

Meyer's manual sets a maximum of 10 mph while transporting the plow and 5 mph while plowing snow.

Can I plow a gravel driveway?

Meyer's bolt-on HomePlow snow shoe kit (08271) sets the scraping height of the cutting edge. Meyer notes the edge commonly runs ½" to 1" above the surface on gravel or other ground-sensitive surfaces. Rubber and polyurethane cutting edge kits are also offered for driveways you don't want steel touching.

How should I plow my driveway with it?

Meyer recommends plowing every 2" to 3" of accumulation. Lift the blade as high as possible and drive through the snow to the garage, drop the blade and back-drag away from the garage, then turn around, back into the cleared path and keep rolling snow away from the house. On the first storm, push snow well back from the drive to leave room for later piles.
