Meyer Products Home Plow 23250 Basic 6'8" Electric Lift Snow Plow

The Meyer Home Plow 23250 is the HomePlow Basic, the entry model in the HomePlow by Meyer line, built for homeowners who need to clear a long driveway without spending a lot of time doing it. It pairs a 6'8" × 18" two-piece moldboard with an electric lift you run from a wireless remote, so you raise and lower the blade from inside the vehicle.

The plow slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver hitch with Meyer's Quick-Link mounting system. Meyer limits the HomePlow to driveway plowing on ½-ton and smaller SUVs, pickups and utility vehicles. The Basic ships for assembly, which Meyer estimates at under one hour with two people. The front receiver hitch mount is sold separately.

Meyer's 2023–2024 product guide lists four HomePlow models. The 23250 is the Basic model. The Meyer Home Plow 24000 uses the same electric lift and wireless remote with a pre-assembled 22" one-piece moldboard and caster wheels. The 6'8" Meyer Home Plow 26000 and the 7'6" Meyer Home Plow 26500 are the Power Angling models, with full hydraulic lift and angle from a wired controller.

• Electric lift with wireless remote. An electric linear actuator and lift chain raise and lower the blade. Press up to raise and down to lower. A blue light shows the remote is sending, and the lift times out after 6 seconds of continuous up or down.
• Auto-angle or locked. With the hinge pin removed, the blade angles toward the side carrying the heavier snow and returns to straight when raised. With the pin installed, it locks straight, and the fixed angle pin holds it angled left or right.
• Two-piece full-trip moldboard. 6'8" long and 18" tall in 14-gauge steel with six vertical ribs and four trip springs. Meyer lists a 72" average width at full angle.
• Three-piece steel cutting edge. A middle and two outer sections, 1/4" × 5". Meyer's manual says to replace the edge once it wears to 3-1/2" tall.
• Quick-Link mounting. The lift frame's tube slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver and pins in place.
• Weather-covered connector. The electric plug disconnects when the plow comes off, and Meyer calls for weather covers on both harness ends and dielectric grease on the connector.
• Weather-resistant finish. Meyer formulates the yellow and black paint to withstand harsh temperatures. Sno-Flo® powder coat touch-up is available in spray cans.
• Bolt-together assembly. Meyer's manual lists 3/4", 7/16", 9/16", 15/16" and 1/2" wrenches and ratchets, a 10" adjustable wrench and channel locks.

Meyer's vehicle requirements for the HomePlow:

• Two- or four-wheel-drive SUV, pickup or utility vehicle rated ½-ton or smaller. Meyer prohibits use on larger vehicles.
• Able to accept a Category 3, 2" × 2" front receiver hitch rated for 300 lb tongue weight and 3,000 lb pull.
• Minimum 60-amp alternator and minimum 70-amp battery with 550 cold cranking amps.
• Front suspension able to carry the added weight of the plow and hitch.
• Stock ride height, with no lift kit or other suspension modification.

Check two measurements once the receiver hitch is installed. The center of the receiver should sit 10" to 13" above the ground, and the hitch pin hole should be no more than 8-1/2" from the very end of the bumper. Meyer directs owners outside those ranges to their hitch maker for height or length adjustment accessories.

Meyer lists a steel replacement cutting edge (08384), a HomePlow storage cover (22768), a Basic-model snow shoe kit (08383) and a Quick Link lock for the 23250, sold separately. Meyer does not offer caster wheels for this model.

HomePlow models compared

Meyer's HomePlow warranty, effective July 1, 2022, covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase for the original purchaser. Individual parts, components and accessories carry their own one-year term. Expendable items such as cutting edges, pins, runners, springs, markers, chrome plating and paint are excluded, as is damage to the vehicle the plow is mounted on.

Coverage applies to the original purchaser and ends if the plow is sold or transferred. Meyer has confirmed to MGS that the HomePlow can be installed by the end user. Warranty service runs through authorized HomePlow and Meyer dealers, so keep your proof of purchase. The full warranty is linked under Documents.

Will the Meyer Home Plow 23250 fit my vehicle?

It is built for two- or four-wheel-drive SUVs, pickups and utility vehicles rated ½-ton or smaller, at stock height, that can take a Category 3, 2" front receiver hitch. Meyer's application guide lists the receiver mount for each listed vehicle, and the receiver center must land 10" to 13" off the ground.

Is the front receiver hitch included?

No. The 2" front receiver hitch mount is sold separately and is installed to the hitch maker's instructions before the plow goes on.

How much does the Meyer Home Plow 23250 weigh?

Meyer lists the 23250 Basic at 233 lb complete, the lightest HomePlow. Meyer lists the 24000 at 241 lb, the 26000 at 250 lb and the 7'6" 26500 at 279 lb.

How long does assembly take?

Meyer's Basic owner's manual estimates less than one hour with two people, using common wrenches and ratchets. The manual walks through the moldboard, pivot bar, A-frame, lift and wiring steps.

Does the 23250 angle on its own?

Yes, when the hinge pin through the A-frame and pivot bar is removed. The blade then angles toward the side with the heaviest snow and returns to center when raised. Install the pin to lock it straight, or use the fixed angle pin to hold it left or right.

Can I add caster wheels?

No. Meyer states HomePlow caster wheels are not available for the 23250. The 24000 and the Power Angling models include them.

Can I use it on a ¾-ton truck or for commercial plowing?

No. Meyer states the HomePlow is for driveway plowing only and prohibits use on vehicles larger than ½-ton.

How fast can I drive with the plow mounted?

Meyer's manual sets a maximum of 10 mph while transporting the plow and 5 mph while plowing snow.

Can I plow a gravel driveway?

Meyer offers a bolt-on snow shoe kit for the Basic models (08383) that sets the scraping height of the cutting edge for gravel driveways and other ground-sensitive surfaces.

How should I plow my driveway with it?

Meyer recommends plowing every 2" to 3" of accumulation. Lift the blade as high as possible and drive through the snow to the garage, drop the blade and back-drag away from the garage, then turn around, back into the cleared path and keep rolling snow away from the house. On the first storm, push snow well back from the drive to leave room for later piles.
