Meyer Products Home Plow 26500 7'6" Power Angling Snow Plow

The Meyer Home Plow 26500 is the 7'6" Full Powered model of the HomePlow by Meyer, the personal-use plow Meyer designed for homeowners who need to clear a long driveway without spending a lot of time doing it. It carries the widest blade in the HomePlow line, a 7'6" × 22" moldboard that Meyer lists at 81" average width at full angle, and a wired in-cab controller runs full hydraulic up, down, left and right.

The plow slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver hitch with Meyer's Quick-Link mounting system and rolls on integrated caster wheels for mounting and storage. Meyer limits the HomePlow to driveway plowing on ½-ton and smaller SUVs, pickups and utility vehicles. The front receiver hitch mount is sold separately.

Meyer's 2023–2024 product guide lists four HomePlow models. The 26500 and the 6'8" Meyer Home Plow 26000 are the Power Angling models, angling hydraulically on command. The Meyer Home Plow 24000 pairs an electric lift and wireless remote with a blade that angles automatically when it meets snow, and the Meyer Home Plow 23250 Basic uses the electric lift with a two-piece moldboard that ships for assembly.

• Full hydraulic lift and angle. The hydraulic power unit raises, lowers and angles the blade left or right from the wired controller.
• Float mode. Hold the lower button for more than one second and the blade stays in contact with the ground regardless of grade. Pressing raise takes it out of Float.
• Built-in controller timers. Continuous raise is limited to 4 seconds and continuous angle to 6 seconds. Releasing the button resets the timer.
• Quick-Link mounting. The lift frame's tube slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver and pins in place.
• Integrated caster wheels. Casters let you roll the plow up to the hitch and park it for storage, and Meyer offers replacement pivot bar and lift frame casters.
• One-piece full-trip moldboard. 7'6" long and 22" tall in 14-gauge steel with six vertical ribs and two trip springs.
• Replaceable steel cutting edge. A one-piece 3/16" × 5" edge. Meyer's manual says to replace the cutting edge once it wears to 3-1/2" tall.
• Weather-covered connectors. The plow and vehicle harness ends carry weather covers, and Meyer calls for dielectric grease on the connector prongs.
• Sno-Flo® powder coating in black and yellow, with Sno-Flo touch-up available in spray cans.
• Arrives pre-assembled. Meyer's owner's manual notes the HomePlow hydraulic system ships dry and is filled only with Meyer M-1 hydraulic fluid during setup.

Meyer's vehicle requirements for the HomePlow:

• Two- or four-wheel-drive SUV, pickup or utility vehicle rated ½-ton or smaller. Meyer prohibits use on larger vehicles.
• Able to accept a Category 3, 2" × 2" front receiver hitch rated for 300 lb tongue weight and 3,000 lb pull.
• Minimum 60-amp alternator and minimum 70-amp battery with 550 cold cranking amps.
• Front suspension able to carry the added weight of the plow and hitch.
• Stock ride height, with no lift kit or other suspension modification.

Check two measurements once the receiver hitch is installed. The center of the receiver should sit 10" to 13" above the ground, and the hitch pin hole should be no more than 8-1/2" from the very end of the bumper. Meyer directs owners outside those ranges to their hitch maker for height or length adjustment accessories.

Meyer accessories for the 26500

The 7'6" blade takes its own cutting edges and deflector. Meyer lists these optional accessories, sold separately, for the 26500: steel (08322), rubber (08323) and polyurethane (08324) cutting edge kits, a poly snow deflector (08326), replacement pivot bar and lift frame casters (13300 and 13301), a snow shoe kit (08271) and a Quick Link lock.

HomePlow models compared

Meyer's HomePlow warranty, effective July 1, 2022, covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase for the original purchaser. Individual parts, components and accessories carry their own one-year term. Expendable items such as cutting edges, pins, runners, springs, markers, chrome plating and paint are excluded, as is damage to the vehicle the plow is mounted on.

Coverage applies to the original purchaser and ends if the plow is sold or transferred. Meyer has confirmed to MGS that the HomePlow can be installed by the end user. Warranty service runs through authorized HomePlow and Meyer dealers, so keep your proof of purchase. The full warranty is linked under Documents.

Will the Meyer Home Plow 26500 fit my vehicle?

It is built for two- or four-wheel-drive SUVs, pickups and utility vehicles rated ½-ton or smaller, at stock height, that can take a Category 3, 2" front receiver hitch. Meyer's application guide lists the receiver mount for each listed vehicle, and the receiver center must land 10" to 13" off the ground.

Is the front receiver hitch included?

No. The 2" front receiver hitch mount is sold separately and is installed to the hitch maker's instructions before the plow goes on.

How much does the Meyer Home Plow 26500 weigh?

Meyer lists the 26500 at 279 lb complete, the heaviest HomePlow. Meyer lists the 6'8" 26000 at 250 lb, the 24000 at 241 lb and the 23250 Basic at 233 lb.

How wide does it plow compared with the 6'8" models?

The 26500's moldboard is 7'6" (90") long, and Meyer lists an 81" average width at full angle. The 6'8" HomePlow models list 72" at full angle.

Can I use it on a ¾-ton truck or for commercial plowing?

No. Meyer states the HomePlow is for driveway plowing only and prohibits use on vehicles larger than ½-ton.

How fast can I drive with the plow mounted?

Meyer's manual sets a maximum of 10 mph while transporting the plow and 5 mph while plowing snow.

Can I plow a gravel driveway?

Meyer lists its bolt-on HomePlow snow shoe kit (08271) for the 26500. The shoes set the scraping height of the cutting edge, and Meyer notes the edge commonly runs ½" to 1" above the surface on gravel or other ground-sensitive surfaces. Rubber and polyurethane cutting edge kits sized for the 7'6" blade are also offered.

How should I plow my driveway with it?

Meyer recommends plowing every 2" to 3" of accumulation. Roll snow away from the house, set the blade at an angle about two-thirds of the way in, lift and drive to the garage, then drop the blade and back-drag away from the garage before working outward. On the first storm, push snow well back from the drive to leave room for later piles.
