Meyer WingMan 28320 6'8" Snow Plow for Half-Ton Trucks and SUVs

The Meyer WingMan 28320 is a 6'8" full-trip snow plow that mounts through a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver hitch. Meyer built the WingMan for business property managers and owners who handle their own snow removal, and lists it for half-ton and light pickup trucks and SUVs. It arrives fully assembled in a crate, and Meyer says you can install it yourself in under an hour. After that, the Quick-Link mounting system puts the plow on or takes it off the vehicle in under a minute.

The moldboard is 14-gauge, lightweight military-grade steel with eight vertical ribs and two trip springs, protected from corrosion by Dura-Slick paint with Teflon. A commercial-grade hydraulic unit raises, lowers and angles the blade from an in-cab pistol grip controller. Plow lights are part of the package; Meyer catalogs this assembly as the WingMan LED 6'8".

Meyer backs the complete plow package and structural steel for two years, extended to five years total when you register the plow online within 60 days of purchase. The terms are under Warranty below.

• Quick-Link mounting system: the plow's 2-inch mount bar slides into a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver hitch, so the plow goes on or off in under a minute.
• Integrated caster wheels and crank stand: the casters let you roll the moldboard into position and park it for storage, and they stay on the plow while you work. The crank stand adjusts plow height for attaching and detaching.
• Pistol grip controller with Hands-Free Plowing: raise, lower and angle the blade from the cab. In Hands-Free Plowing back-drag mode, the blade lowers when you shift into reverse and lifts when you shift into drive. Double-tap any button and the blade moves to that position on its own.
• Float and self-diagnostics: hold the down button and the blade follows the contour of the surface while you can still angle it. A monitor light on the controller flashes a code that points to the hydraulic-unit coil with a problem, and the code chart is printed on the back of the controller.
• Full-trip moldboard: two trip springs let the moldboard trip forward and ride over hidden obstructions, which protects the plow, the vehicle and the operator.
• Commercial-grade hydraulics: an encased hydraulic power unit under a protective cover raises, lowers, angles, holds and floats the moldboard through two 1-1/2" x 10" angling rams and a 1-1/2" x 8" lift cylinder.
• One-piece removal: the lift frame takes the front-end hardware, plow, lights and hydraulic unit off the vehicle as one module.
• Lightweight military-grade steel: a lighter plow means less wear and tear on your vehicle and better fuel efficiency.

The WingMan mounts to a Class 3, 2-inch vehicle-specific front receiver hitch, sold separately. Meyer sells front hitch kits, and its buying guidance notes that a hitch can also come from a home improvement store or trailer outlet. You can mount the hitch yourself or have an authorized Meyer dealer or a service station install it.

Your vehicle also needs a 4-pin trailer wiring harness at the rear; the plow's vehicle-side harness plugs into it through a trailer adapter harness. Meyer calls for a heavy-duty battery of at least 70 amp-hours and 550 cold cranking amps and an alternator of at least 60 amps. For plowing, Meyer also recommends four-wheel drive, mud and snow tires, increased radiator cooling, an automatic transmission, power brakes and power steering.

Not every pickup or SUV can take a WingMan. Meyer's 2023–2024 Application and Product Guide lists the 66 applications below for the WingMan 6'8", each with the matching Meyer front receiver hitch kit.

Meyer requires the vehicle with the full plow system, driver, passengers and cargo to stay within the front and rear gross axle weight ratings and the gross vehicle weight rating on the driver's door label. Rear ballast may be needed to stay under the front axle rating.

Meyer's snow plow warranty, effective July 1, 2022, covers the complete snow plow package and structural steel for two years from the date of purchase. Register the plow online within 60 days of purchase and that coverage extends by three years, for five years total. Individual parts, components and accessories carry one year.

Coverage applies to the original purchaser and ends if the plow is sold or transferred. Meyer has confirmed to MGS that the WingMan can be installed by the end user; register the plow at meyerproducts.com/product-registration to get the five-year coverage. Paint and wear items such as pins, runners, cutting edges, springs and markers are excluded, and warranty work runs through Meyer's authorized distributor network. Can I install the WingMan myself?

Meyer designed the WingMan for owners who install it themselves and says installation takes under an hour. The plow arrives fully assembled, and uncrating and installing it takes at least two people. The front receiver hitch has to be on the vehicle first.

How quickly does the plow go on and come off?

Meyer rates on and off at under a minute with the Quick-Link mounting system. The crank stand sets the height for attaching and detaching, and the caster wheels let you roll the moldboard into place.

Which WingMan size should I choose, 6'8" or 7'6"?

This 6'8" WingMan clears a 72-inch path at full angle and weighs 371 lb complete. The Meyer WingMan 7'6" (28330) clears 81 inches at full angle with a taller 26-inch moldboard and weighs 400 lb. Meyer lists the 6'8" for several vehicles it does not list for the 7'6", including the Colorado, Canyon, Explorer, Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia. Does the WingMan fit a Jeep?

Meyer's application guide does not list Jeep vehicles for this WingMan. Meyer builds a separate Jeep WingMan 6'8" (78320) for select Jeep models, which also mounts through a Class 3, 2-inch front receiver hitch.

Can I plow a gravel driveway?

Meyer's manual sets the cutting edge 1/2 inch above the ground in plowing position and allows it higher on gravel. Meyer's WingMan snow shoes (part 08092, sold separately) set that scraping height; Meyer notes the edge commonly runs 1/2 inch to 1 inch above gravel and other ground-sensitive surfaces.

How fast can I drive with the plow on?

Meyer's manual limits speed to 40 mph when transporting the plow and 20 mph while plowing snow.

What accessories does Meyer offer for this plow?

Meyer lists rubber (08236) and urethane (08277) cutting edges, molded (13071), rubber (08107) and poly (12706) snow deflectors, a hitch lock (07695) and the snow shoe kit (08092) for the WingMan 6'8". They are sold separately.
