Description

-

The EMAX Silent Air Industrial Plus is a 5 HP, two-stage, 80-gallon vertical air compressor built for shops that run air all day. It pairs a 100% cast-iron, pressure-lubricated pump with EMAX's patented Silent Air silencer and ships as a complete air system with a matched 30 CFM refrigerated air dryer. Wired for 460V three-phase power, it delivers 19 CFM and tops out at 175 PSI, with a magnetic starter, electric auto drain, and pump riser already fitted.

This is the 460V three-phase configuration, SKU ESP05V080I3PK-460. The pump carries an estimated 70,000-hour service life, and every major casting — crankcase, cylinders, cylinder heads, and connecting rods — is solid cast iron rather than aluminum, for rigidity and heat tolerance under continuous-duty loads.

Features

-

Silent Air patented silencer

The Silent Air silencer system is engineered to run at or below conversational speaking volume. Rather than a fully enclosed cabinet — which adds cost and restricts service access — the silencer leaves the pump exposed for routine maintenance while cutting intake noise, the loudest source of compressor sound, with noise-reducing baffle plates and high-capacity filter media.

Pressure-lubricated pump with spin-on filter

A rear-mounted gear oil pump delivers continuous, positive oil pressure to every bearing point, keeping the crankshaft and connecting-rod assemblies cool. Each crankshaft and connecting rod is rifle-drilled for direct oil flow to the wrist pins and bearings, an automotive-style spin-on oil filter keeps the oil clean, and a liquid-filled gauge lets the operator monitor oil pressure at a glance. An adjustable regulator tunes oil pressure across the RPM range. The pump holds 1.75 quarts.

100% cast-iron pump

The crankcase, cylinders, and cylinder heads are all CNC-machined cast iron, with no aluminum sleeves. Cast iron holds tolerance and sheds heat under high duty cycles where aluminum can distort. Cylinders are precision-honed and deep-finned for cooling, and deep-bored, threaded head holes allow proper torque and a lasting head-gasket seal.

Cast-iron cylinder heads and disc valves

Solid cast-iron heads resist the head-gasket failures common to aluminum heads and hold rigidity under load. CNC-machined concentric-ring disc valves — surface-ground for sealing — replace the feather or reed valves used on many pumps. They last longer and service in minutes: lift out the retainer and valve for inspection, then reinstall.

Cast-iron pistons and rebuildable connecting rods

High-pressure pistons are cast iron to resist cylinder scoring, while the two-stage low-pressure pistons use aluminum where stress is light (around 45 PSI). The connecting rods are CNC-machined solid cast iron with replaceable bearing inserts and wrist pins, so the rod assembly is fully rebuildable rather than throwaway.

A four-ring piston design — two oil-control rings and two compression rings — minimizes oil carryover and blow-by, and a rifle-drilled oil port carries oil through the crankshaft and up to the piston pin and bearing for continuous lubrication.

Cast-iron flywheel and multi-belt drive

Heavy cast-iron flywheels store kinetic energy to reduce amp draw, with cooling fins that pull air across the pump. The 5 HP pump uses a 16-inch flywheel with two B-style groove belts and six cooling fins. A multi-belt B- and C-width drive spreads load across more belt surface than a single narrow belt, lowering tension, noise, and vibration. A dual-bolt belt tensioner sets and holds belt tension without pry bars.

Continuous-run head unloaders

The pump supports an automatic head-unloader system for constant-run applications. The unloader holds the intake valve open at a preset pressure so the motor keeps running instead of repeatedly starting under load — reducing amp draw while unloaded, lowering electrical and mechanical wear, and circulating cool air through the cylinder to shed heat. Head unloaders are included on fully packaged electric units and recommended for duty cycles of 40% or higher.

Electric auto drain and pump riser

A dual-timer electric auto drain expels moisture from the tank on an adjustable 1-to-45-minute cycle, with an included muffler for quiet discharge. A pump-mount riser lifts the pump for 360-degree airflow off the flywheel, cooling the oil reservoir and the underside of the pump.

Matched 30 CFM refrigerated air dryer

The package ships with a 30 CFM refrigerated air dryer that removes moisture from the compressed air before it reaches your tools. The dryer carries a built-in prefilter at .001 micron and a coalescing prefilter at .005 micron for clean, dry air.

Warranty

-

The compressor carries a 1-year standard warranty against defects in material, workmanship, and parts from the date of delivery, including one year of warranty labor from an authorized technician. Registering the EMAX extended warranty plan and running EMAX-approved oil on the published maintenance schedule extends compressor coverage to up to 5 years.

The refrigerated air dryer carries its own 1-year standard warranty, extendable to up to 3 years when you register the extended plan and replace the dryer filter kit annually. The EMAX 5-Year Extended Warranty Kit (EFKIT008AWBS) for 5–10 HP Silent Air electric models is sold separately. Required maintenance: change the factory break-in oil within the first 70 hours of run time, then every 6 months or 1,000 hours of operation, whichever comes first, using EMAX-approved oil.

FAQ

-

What electrical service does it need?

The compressor runs on 460V three-phase power. Full-load current is 7.3 amps at a 1.15 service factor, locked-rotor draw is 45.4 amps, and EMAX specifies a 15-amp breaker. A magnetic starter is included.

Can it run continuously?

Yes. The pump is rated for a 60% duty cycle and supports continuous-run operation through its head-unloader system, which is recommended for duty cycles of 40% or higher.

Is the air dryer included?

Yes. The package ships as a complete air system — the compressor plus a 30 CFM refrigerated air dryer with built-in .001- and .005-micron prefilters.

What oil and maintenance does it require?

Change the factory break-in oil within the first 70 run hours, then every 6 months or 1,000 hours using EMAX-approved oil. Keeping the unit on this schedule and registering the extended plan is what qualifies it for extended warranty coverage.

How does it ship?

It ships freight, crated at 49 x 46 x 87 inches. Contact MGS at 307-381-1810 or sales@mygaragesupplies.com to schedule delivery.
