Description
-The EMAX ES10V080V1 is a 10 HP two-stage industrial air compressor built on an 80-gallon vertical tank. It delivers 38 CFM at 100 PSI and tops out at 175 PSI, running on 230V single-phase power through an open-drip-proof motor and an included magnetic starter. The unit is ETL, ASME, and CRN certified and ships with vibration isolator pads.
Two design choices set this compressor apart for shops that run air all day: the patented Silent Air™ intake silencer that drops operating noise to around conversational volume, and a pressure-lubricated, all-cast-iron pump rated for an estimated 70,000-hour service life. Together they target the two things that wear out a hard-working compressor first — operator fatigue from noise and bearing wear from inadequate lubrication.
Silent Air™ Noise Suppression
The patented Silent Air™ silencer reduces intake noise — the loudest single source of compressor sound — using noise-reducing baffle plates and high-capacity filter media, for up to 1000% more filtration than a standard intake setup. The result is up to 50% quieter operation, at or below conversational volume (each 10 dBA drop is a 50% reduction to the human ear). Unlike fully enclosed cabinet compressors, the silencer keeps the pump accessible for routine service.
Features
-Pressure-Lubricated Pump
A gear-driven oil pump mounted to the rear of the crankshaft generates positive oil pressure, delivering a continuous flow of oil to every bearing point to keep bearings cool and extend pump life. Each crankshaft and connecting rod is rifle-drilled (gun-drilled) for direct oil flow to the bearings, wrist pins, and other high-friction points. A spin-on, automotive-style oil filter keeps the oil clean, and a liquid-filled analog gauge lets the operator monitor oil pressure during operation. Compared with splash-lubricated designs, pressure lubrication puts oil precisely where it is needed under continuous-duty load.
The oil-pump assembly adds a bleeder valve for quick priming, an adjustable regulator for setting oil pressure across the RPM range, and the spin-on filter for simplified oil changes.
100% Cast Iron Construction
All major pump components are cast iron rather than aluminum: crankcase, cylinders, cylinder heads, connecting rods, crankshaft, and high-pressure piston. Cast iron handles high-duty-cycle compression and the heat that comes with it more durably than aluminum, with no aluminum sleeves beneath the paint.
Cast Iron Cylinders
The cylinders are CNC-machined for flatness and precise tolerances, with a concentric bore that reduces oil carryover and supports long piston-ring life. Deep cooling fins maximize surface area to shed heat under high-duty-cycle operation, and deep-bored, threaded head holes allow proper torque for a lasting head-gasket seal. Every bore is precision-honed for easier break-in and reduced oil carryover.
Cast Iron Cylinder Heads
Solid cast iron cylinder heads avoid the head-gasket failures common to aluminum heads and hold torque under demanding conditions. The disc-valve design seals the head gasket without re-torquing, and tapped holes in cast iron provide stronger thread retention than aluminum.
Pistons and Connecting Rods
High-pressure pistons are cast iron, built to take heavy load without scoring the cylinder. Connecting rods are CNC-machined solid cast iron with replaceable bearing inserts and wrist pins, so the rod assembly is fully rebuildable rather than throw-away. A rifle-drilled oil port carries oil through the crankshaft and up to the piston pin and bearing for continuous lubrication. On two-stage pumps, the low-pressure piston is aluminum, where it operates under low stress (about 45 PSI).
The pump uses a four-ring piston design — two oil-control rings to clear excess oil on the downstroke and two compression rings to seal against blow-by — which maximizes sealing and reduces oil carryover for longer ring life.
CNC-Machined Disc Valves
The pump uses CNC-machined concentric-ring (disc) valves, surface-ground for sealing and durability. They service quickly — remove the retainer, lift the valve for inspection, and reinstall within minutes — and are more reliable over the long run than feather or fixed reed valves.
Cast Iron Flywheel
The pump runs a heavy-duty cast iron flywheel. Its mass stores kinetic energy that reduces amp draw and overall energy consumption, multiple B-groove belts give a larger contact surface to extend belt life, and cast cooling fins add airflow over the pump. On 10 HP models the flywheel measures 20 inches with two B-style groove belts and nine large cooling fins.
Belt-Drive System
A multi-belt B-width drive provides more grip surface than a single narrow belt, lowering belt tension and reducing strain on the motor and compressor bearings. Lower tension also means less noise and vibration, extending belt and system life across thousands of hours of operation.
Head Unloaders
This unit carries a 60% duty cycle, and head unloaders are available for electric units running at 40% duty cycle or higher. An unloader holds the intake valve open at a preset pressure so the motor keeps running rather than repeatedly starting under load — reducing amp draw while unloaded, lowering electrical and mechanical wear, and protecting the motor and magnetic starter.

Warranty
-EMAX covers the compressor with a 1-year standard warranty against defects in material, workmanship, and parts from the date of delivery, including one year of warranty labor from an authorized technician. Warranty parts ship ground-freight-paid for the first six months. Standard technical assistance is provided at no charge during and after the warranty period.
The standard warranty extends to 5 years when you register the unit and follow the required maintenance schedule using EMAX SMART OIL™ — changing the break-in oil within the first 70 hours, then every 6 months or 1,000 hours thereafter. The matching service kit is EFKIT008AWBS (sold separately). Running the unit low on oil or using non-approved oil voids the warranty.
