The Atlas SBC990 is a full-size sandblasting cabinet built for shops that need to clean, etch, or strip large parts in one pass. The 46" x 34" x 33 1/2" work area swallows brake drums, intake manifolds, suspension components, and tooling that would force you to reposition inside a smaller cabinet. An extra-large front/top loading door lets oversized pieces drop in without rotating them through a narrow opening.

The cabinet keeps itself ready to work. Hook it to your shop air and the SBC990 stays primed — step on the foot pedal and the NE490 heavy-duty gun fires. Hands stay free to position the part. The attached vacuum runs continuously to evacuate spent media and dust as you blast, so the window stays usable through long jobs instead of clouding over halfway through.

Spent abrasive falls through the lower hopper for reuse or removal through the bottom gate. The gun uses replaceable ceramic nozzles in multiple bore sizes — four come with the cabinet, plus plastic protectors for the viewing window. Recommended media is glass bead (not included), the same media Atlas calls out for stripping scale and heavy rust off automotive parts.

The nozzle sits recessed inside the gun head rather than projecting from the front, which Atlas notes reduces the chance of breakage when the gun contacts a part edge during work. Spare nozzles are stocked as wear parts.

The vacuum runs off the cabinet's own electrical and pulls spent media and rust dust off the surface as you work. The cartridge filter is replaceable when it loads up, and the bottom-gate hopper makes routine clean-out a one-handed job.

What air supply do I need to run the SBC990?

The cabinet calls for an external air supply delivering 24 CFM at 125 PSI. Confirm your compressor can sustain that flow at pressure under continuous load before planning extended blasting sessions — the gun draws continuously while the foot pedal is down.

Does the foot-pedal gun take any ceramic nozzle, or only Atlas's?

The NE490 gun uses Atlas's replaceable ceramic nozzles. Four come with the cabinet. Spares are stocked as wear parts — reach out before you run out and we'll have them ready.

Is media included?

No. The cabinet ships ready to load, but you supply the abrasive. Atlas recommends glass bead for rust and scale removal on automotive parts.

How does the vacuum filter get cleaned or replaced?

The vacuum uses a cartridge filter inside the housing on the side of the cabinet. The bottom-gate hopper opens for the bulk dust drop, and the cartridge itself is replaceable when it loads to the point of restricting airflow. The cabinet keeps replacement filters and nozzles in stock as wear items.

Can the SBC990 strip an entire motorcycle frame in one setup?

The 46" x 34" floor area accepts most sport-bike frames and many cruiser frames without disassembly. Long touring frames may still need to be split or repositioned mid-blast — measure the frame before you order if that's the use case.
